Halloween Message For Newborn

Casanova (s)

Battaglia Mattotti, Crepax, these names sound so familiar to the ears of lovers of Italian comics. They can also be a familiar music to the ears of Casanovas. Indeed, a comic collective Casanova was carried out by Italian designers, Brazilian and Argentine talent, each of them involving images a chapter in the life of the famous Venetian. This book

was published 30 years ago in French (Editions Glénat, 1981, ISBN 2-7234-0246-0; the original Italian edition published in 1977) and although I've read some excerpts here and there, this is a few months ago I could buy one copy in a bookstore Bécherel , the very friendly Cite book of Ille-et-Vilaine.

In this book, Hugo Pratt has shown that coverage.

Dino Battaglia sign the prologue, "A old librarian, "which opens this book about a Casanova in the winter of his life.

Cinzia Ghigliano us to discover a sickly child Casanova in " stupid child."

Lorenzo Mattotti introduced in "The student , a Casanova who begins to glimpse in his early school years, the duplicity of some men and women .

With " Humiliation and rebellions" of Maurizio Bovarina is the Abbe Casanova who is fighting back.

Ro Marcenaro invites us, in "The trip " forward Casanova from Venice to Ancona and Naples in the Following his bishop, a voyage during which he multiplies both mercury and seduces a young Greek girl as the wife of a lawyer.

In "The castrato " of Miguel Paiva (Brazilian designers of this bunch), yields to the charms of a indécits disturbing and true-false castrato .

Under the pen of Altan, Casanova pass "the gentleman bandit From " Protection of Senator Bragadin the threat of the Inquisitors.

For Argentina Oski, our Venetian is " A bright young man and carefree , playing his patter to bamboozle the gullible who pride themselves on esotericism.

" Henrietta" and Renato Calligaro in a style completely different styles of other authors of this collective album, painted (and the word is not too loud), the loves of Casanova to the French Henriette he had known in Italy for which we can that it vibrated with love.

Finally, Guido Crepax , who had already drawn a Histoire d'O (1975) inspired by Pauline Réage and draw a Justine (1979) inspired Marquis de Sade, the album closes with the chapter most directly erotic " The nun," an episode in the life of Casanova, where it plunges into a whirlwind of fun with nuns from a good family, along with the Ambassador of France to Venice, François de Bernis, the future cardinal.

This album enchanted me. I appreciated the diversity of appropriation of Casanova by these artists, whom I knew, mostly, the style of other works before or after this Casanova. This album is not very easy to find good used condition, but bédéphiles and Casanova will probably find, as each other, their happiness.
