Howard Phillips Lovecraft

Hi,

Aujo urd'hui I'll talk a little longer ment of Howard Phillips Lovecraft (Born and died in Providence 1890-1937) Writer who wishes to heart myself.

Well I do not count you lay a thesis, I would be incapable, but I would try to talk at best.

What I like about this writer? Mainly LEMENT most of the works grouped under the term "Cthulhu Mythos", not necessarily for the literary quality ur (I do not pretend to be a critic) but to the imaginary the "myth".

In HPL man is not the first inhabitant of the earth shook and did not last. Here lies a world of strange creatures, half-human, the result of hybridization impossible and against nature. A world where families Ghoul generated haunt cemeteries and where that is dead do not stay forever. A world where civilizations non-human terrestrial and extraterrestrial, have followed before the advent of humanity. A world in which weighs the shadow of ancient inhuman arisen primordial entities across the gulf of space and time ...

Here knowledge is a curse, characters APPE rate experience oblivion because each revelation (on the reality of the world or themselves) madness lurks.

I will say that (in my opinion, reinforced by the real experts in the myth) the term "myth" invented by the writer August Derleth after HPL's death, is reductive as suggesting a Manichaean cosmology of gods. Derleth, as Christians believe, wanted to built a sense of struggle between good and evil, that HPL did not fai t at the start ...

Humanity is just dust in a universe governed by cosmic forces beyond him.

So obviously these creatures have intentio ns hostile against humanity, but we ourselves, are we evil if the water is sterilized to kill all the germs ?

short for those who wish to (re) discover HPL: small playlist entirely subjective ...

(attention : No new titles of works)

-In the abyss of time (The Shadow Out of Time)

-the Mountains of Madness (At the Mountains of Madness)

-The Dunwich Horror (The Dunwich Horror)

-The Call of Cthulhu (The Call of Cthulhu)

-The Ulthar cats (not really integrated co same part of the myth but I like it)

- The Shadow Over Innsmouth ( The Shad ow over Innsmouth)

-The Colour Out of Space (The Colour Out of Space )

-The Whisperer in Darkness (The Whisper -operate in Darkness)

I am required to texts of Lovecraft, various authors have tested the Following a complete myth with + or - success.

So much for those who want to learn more: RDV on this site , good documentary and a forum.

Cthulhu f htagn!
